If this year has shown us anything, it’s that we don’t need as much as we may have thought to be happy. That being said, celebration, joy and gratitude are not cancelled. If you’re choosing and able to gift this year, I’ve created this mindful gift guide, to encourage all of us to shop more intentionally.
Given that we are still in the throes of a pandemic and the festive season is looking very different for many of us, I’m opting for winter reads and nourishing, supportive self-care and ethically sourced gifts instead. My hope is that a few of my recommendations will inspire you to look inward, dig deep, and shed light and creativity on how you want to show up in the coming year.
We have all been pushed to the maximum these past months, and I know that many of us have experienced grief, loss, uncertainty, fear, frustration and isolation. But we’ve also experienced community, creativity, presence, gratitude, strength, and resiliency. In many ways, 2020 has brought to the surface what can no longer be ignored in our bodies and our lifestyles. We’ve had to learn how to slow down, pivot, and recalibrate. We could view this either positively or negatively, but I truly believe there is always a silver lining to be found in times of grief and hardship. Like most things in life, it’s a choice. We can choose to focus on the things we can control: our health, our daily rituals, how we show up and care for those we love, our thoughts, our peace.
I am sharing these gifting suggestions in service of supporting you (and those close to you) to help navigate what may have surfaced and a little inspiration to take you forward into the New Year. I hope these suggestions support and above all inspire you and yours to take better care of yourselves, and offer each of you the right amount of comfort and creativity when you need it the most.
